Its General Manager (GM) for West, East and Central Africa, Mr Joseph Umunakwe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that the world was in the internet age, and there were many vulnerabilities on the internet.
Umunakwe said that there was the need to safeguard customers of their Nokia devices from these vulnerabilities.
The
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in computer security,
vulnerability is a weakness which allows an attacker to reduce a
system’s information assurance
The GM said, “You will not want your data to be compromised, so we are one of the first brands to commit to monthly security update."
“You can be sure that your device and the information in it are secured, as you go about your daily business,” he said.
According
to him, HMD Global, which is an exclusive licencee of Nokia brand on
cell phones and tablets, has opened a new chapter to bring the best to
Nokia phone lovers, which is pure and secured Android.
“’Nokia
has brought a pure, secured and up-to-date Android in its new chapter
and it comes with so many features that go with Nokia heritage of
quality, durability, simplicity, ease to use and human touch,” he said
Umunakwe
said that Nokia had achieved almost 100 per cent brand awareness in
Nigeria and had about 96 per cent brand awareness globally.
The GM said that the new phase of Nokia on Android made that feat possible.
He said that the Nokia brand had embarked on a new chapter, hence, made some transitions on the smartphone space.
According
to him, the launch of Nokia on Android Operating System is to connect
the brand’s fans, the new generation, and the millennials back to the
Nokia family heritage.
“’The expectation is that those that are likely to buy the smart phones are those using Nokia phones previously.
“However, 70 per cent of new and prospective buyers are likely to be millennials,” he said.
Umunakwe said that the feat was achieved with the aid of Nokia’s three pillars portfolio.
He said that one of the pillars of Nokia portfolio was that the devices met the everyday needs and use of its consumers.
According
to him, Nokia products drive leadership in design, in material and
craftsmanship and they are secured up-to-date phones.
He
said that the unique edge Nokia had was its deep insight about the
needs and wants of the customers, this it discovered from the market
research it did.
”With Nokia phones, one is actually getting value for their money, value for performance and getting more for less.
”The
package we have for Nigerians is pure, secured and up-to-date Android
and this is to ensure that consumers enjoy the performance of Nokia cell
phones.
”It has to do with a phone that supports their aspirations and be able to do things they could not have done before,” he said.
