Police arrested two persons over N500k theft at Tungan Maje

The police have
arrested two men for allegedly robbing a sales girl of N500,000 cash at
Tungan Maje village in Gwagwalada Area Council.
A resident of the area, simply
identified as Godwin, said the incident happened at about
4:12pm on wednesday when the suspects, whose names he gave as Chibueke Uzomba and
Chukwu Ebuka, came on motorcycle to Ajinomoto’s shop in the area.
He said the
suspects allegedly took the money from a drawer when the sales girl was
busy attending to other customers in the shop.
He said one of the suspects who
pretended to be a customer handed over the cash to his colleague but the
sales girl raised alarm when she discovered that the money was
missing.
He said people nearby who heard of the incident almost lynched the suspects.
“Some of people brought petrol and matches to set them ablaze after they were apprehended by vigilantes in the area,” he said.
City News gathered that the vigilantes handed the suspects over to the police at Zuba division.
When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT police command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects.
He said a motorcycle belonging to
the suspects was recovered, including the N500,000 cash and that they
would be charged to court after investigation had been concluded.
