ABU collaborates with East China University of Technology on advance tech

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, is collaborating with East China University of Technology (ECUT) in the areas of science and advance technology.

The leader of delegation from ECUT, Prof. Xu Yuejin, the ECUT’s Director of School Board, made the disclosure on Thursday during a visit to ABU main campus, Samaru, Zaria.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, the delegation visit to Nigeria was facilitated by an Education Consultant, Usmaniyya Global Agency.
Yuejin said that ECUT is a university located in Jangshi in Southern Province, saying the province was blessed with abundant real minerals.

“Due to this situation, our university originally, was a university of Geology, especially Uranium Geology.
“Presently, the university has students’ population of about 30,000 undergoing programmes in 68 Bachelor Degrees, 74 Masters and four PhD programmes.
“Our school is specialised in Nuclear Sciences and Geology Science, including the Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Science.

“The main discipline is basically Science and Technology, however, we also cover Management, Economics, Education and Arts, among others,’’ he said.
According to him, the 61-year-old university has graduated about 250,000 people, currently working across China and beyond.
Yuejin expressed satisfaction that ABU had similar disciplines like Engineering, Environmental, Physical and Material Sciences just like the ECUT.

“Therefore, I hope we can have some opportunities of collaborating with you in Education, Research and students’ exchange.
“I thereby invite the V-C and your management team for an opportunity to visit China and visit Janshi, our university and our campus is as beautiful as yours, we have small hills, pools and glue-purple,’’ he said.

He said that the ECUT was trying to promote some newly boom sciences including New Energy, Material like Polymer and Electro Mechanic, among others.
NAN reports that other members of entourage were Prof. Liu Yueming, Director of International Office, Prof. Pan Jiayong, Dean of School of Earth Science and Prof. Zhang Weimin, Dean of School of Environment.
Responding, the ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Garba appreciated the team for the visit and promised to strengthen the bond of relationship for the growth of both nations.

The V-C, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Ezra Bako-Amans, said on behalf of the university the collaboration would be perfected, pursued and concluded.
“This collaboration is coming at a very good time because we know our President Muhammadu Buhari is pursuing a lot of collaborations and activities with China.

“Not only Nigeria, I believe many African countries are pursing collaboration with China. I know putting up these request, government will actually give us full support.
“Especially in the fields of Engineering, Geology and Environment, these are key areas the Federal Government is trying to enhance, therefore, we will do our best toward the success of this collaboration,’’ he said.

NAN reports that presentations from the two universities were separately made and later the entourage paid homage to the Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris in his palace to seek royal blessing.
