Bishop Oyedepo, Apostle Suleman spoke ont tithing and giving

Reinhard Bonnke’s evangelist also offers her opinion on this controversial issue.
Unlike Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye, who spoke
directly on the subject, the founder of Living Faith Church spoke
generally on the importance of giving.
Using the analysis of an elephant, he says, “When
an elephant begins to excrete like a cow, he is on the way to the
grave. You must release on the level of His blessings in your life or
you are your way to the grave.
“As God has blessed everyone, even so, let him give, to the same level let him give so that he can stay alive.”
Still using the same analysis, the pastor says, "I
read the story of an elephant sometimes in one of the zoos here in
America. This elephant consumed about 140 pounds of straw a day and
releases 100 pounds of manure daily. If he does less than that, he is on
his way out."
Finally addressing the real issue, Bishop Oyedepo says, “That
is why many believers are dead while yet they live. Because they are
keeping more than is required so they start dying. They need dialysis.
They need a mechanical way of forcing those things out of them so that
they can stay alive."
Going back to the animal analysis, the Winners’ Chapel pastor adds, “But
you see a cow may here consume about 20 pounds and discharges 14 pounds
according to the blessing available to him, he discharges.”
Bishop
Oyedepo is not the only one to address this subject. Apostle Johnson
Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries has given a direct response to Daddy Freeze’s comments on tithing.
Here is an excerpt from the General Overseer's statement during a church service;
“Let it be clear that if anyone is not a
pastor, he has no right to attack a pastor on church issue. He should
leave everything to God. I only laugh. Somebody who is not a doctor
cannot teach a certified doctor how to go about doing his job; he will
just be laughed at. Someone who is not a journalist can’t teach a true
journalist how he should do his work; they will just be laughing at him.
“If
you asked me, there is nothing wrong with tithing. But tithes should be
used by pastors to maintain Christianity, assist the poor in the
church, the vulnerable and the stranded. Not that everything should go
into the pastor’s pocket, that’s wrong. Every pastor should be on an
allowance.
“That young man does
not deserve a response; in fact, I’m not talking because of him but
because my Papa, Pastor Adeboye had spoken, I’m speaking on the issue.
Now, if it requires that we go into a debate, let’s have it. Yes, your
tithe is not a license to make heaven but it is an acknowledgement of
God’s mercy in your life. But because Papa Adeboye corrected the wrong
notion and the young man dared to respond to him, I felt it was
insulting. This is not about sentiment or emotion, it is about common
sense. You don’t respond to an elder in a certain manner, especially a
man of Pastor Adeboye’s standing.”
