Nigerian singer and sound engineer bag multiple awards in the US
This Nigerian music icon has been reaping awards from every angle after he decided to diversify.
A Nigerian entertainment entrepreneur of international repute, Sheyman, has brought honour to the country yet again as he has added another award to his array of laurels at the recently concluded Hapa Music Award in Los Angeles, California.
Sheyman
who is one of the best sound engineers the country has produced in
recent times has been described as one of the country's entertainment
custodians by friends and colleagues who has once again made Nigeria
proud.
According to the organizers of the high profile award, Sheyman emerged the winner after a painstaking effort and many days of screening by some of the industry's finest minds.
As if that wasn't enough juice, another
icing came on Sheyman's cake as he was once again honoured by another
international award.
At the popular
Nigeria Entertainment Awards which is regarded highly by practitioners
in the Nigerian music industry, Sheyman was once again the man to watch
just a few weeks after.
He was meritoriously honoured as the ‘2017 Best Sound Engineer’ by the continentally-acclaimed awards-giving body, AFRIMA.
The
down-to-earth musician won a special recognition award as a trailblazer
in the Nigerian entertainment community especially considering his
massive contributions in exporting Nigerian sound to the other parts of
the world.
Sheyman is already looking
ahead as he has made plans to diversify his huge investments into music
and video production. Not only that, the forward-thinking young man is
set to change the game in Nigeria's movie industry.
Cirqus
Media, a vision of Sheyman, is the company behind the major high
profile movie production projects. The company is headquartered in
Atlanta, USA, and currently runs a Nigerian office in the Lekki area of
Lagos.
Sheyman who first sneaked into the
consciousness of Nigerian music community in 2008 with his debut album,
Hotter than Fire, which was a collaborative effort with Dr. Pat.
The
album was released in 2008 under Baseline Records, which imprints had
hits like Hotter than Fire. His sophomore album, King of Melody, also
had had hits including Tribute to Dagrin.
Sheyman,
who began his musical adventure in 2005 from a humble beginning of a
home studio in his father's house in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has grown by
leaps and bounds. According to Sheyman, balancing production and
singing is not a big deal to him because the two are almost the same
thing.
"It's
all about the creation of multiple tunes to make good music, so it's a
naturally balanced situation. I can make bold to say that I have over 50
songs on the Internet to my credit, either the ones I made or created,"
he said of his plans to diversify.
He
was one of the few that pioneered the debut of Afro-pop commercial sound
that is now the genre of music adopted by most of the wave making
Nigerian artistes.
It would be accurate
to address Sheyman, popularly known as the King of Melody, as one the
living icons who has carved a niche for himself as a successful Nigeria
entertainment entrepreneur par excellence.
