"The Wedding Party 2": 7 things to love and hate about the movie

Nonso and Deidre in "The Wedding Party 2"
From redundant characters to good music, here are seven things to love and hate about "The Wedding Party 2."

The sequel to "The Wedding Party" is titled "The Wedding Party: Destination Dubai."

It opens in the cinemas on Friday, December 15, and Pulse Movies has put together seven things to like and hate about the sequel, which is directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.

1. No Character outshines the other

The original movie relied heavily on Sola Sobowale as Tinuade, who delivered at every given opportunity. It can be argued that the first movie belonged to her.
However, this sequel belongs to no one as no character outshines the other. Akinmolayn simply brought a cast together to tell a simple and warm story.
You would have to decide if this works or doesn't work for you.

2. The couple - Nonso and Deidre

Nonso and Deidre's love story works because we get to follow their journey and growth.
Their problems seem real, offering several heartwarming moments and busting with relatability.
Also, Nwigwe and Down bring to their roles a real sense of sweetness and vulnerability that shows how uneasy it can be to make certain life decisions.

3. Tinuade Coker

The character Tinuade Coker played by Sola Sobowale is an integral part of "The Wedding Party." After all, she was the brightest spot in the original movie.
In the sequel, she starts off trying too hard with the jokes, and is too involved for a wedding that isn't even hers to plan.
Nevertheless, she still stays retains the energy that probably made her your favourite character in 2016.

4. An Oyinbo that can act

Michael de Pinna as Geoffrey Winston is surprisingly a pleasant and hilarious character. His funniness comes in different forms: sarcasm, wittiness and ignorance.

5. Redundant characters

From the trailer, we already knew this sequel won't be lacking redundant characters.
From Zainab Balogun as Wonu to Wofia Fada to Saka as the village chief to AY Makun as the MC,  quite a number of characters should have been left behind in the original film.

6. The music

The picture is boosted by a perfect selection of songs such as Timi Dakolo's "Medicine," Seyi Shay's "YOLO,' Reekado Banks' 'Ladies and Gentlemen" and Kiss Daniels "Sofa."

7. Unnecessary scenes

Of course, with redundant characters comes irrelevant scenes, and "The Wedding Party 2" has quite a number of them.
Let's not also forget the continuity error and that anticlimax!
"The Wedding Party 2" is currently showing in cinemas.
