Who will he give his attention?

We live in a world that is getting increasingly isolated. Forget the fact that we have all these gadgets that make interconnectivity easier. All that is a charade because it is our phones we are connecting with, not people.

Therefore, it is against this backdrop that many of us carry out our daily routine. We barely listen to the people around us. We would rather be left alone to do our own thing. However, I believe it is very important that we each have someone we respect that we connect to. Call it a mentor or whatever but the place of such individuals in our lives is paramount.

This is why I would gladly advise that all ladies find out who their men listen to before they say ‘yes’ to the ring. There must be an authority in his life that once the person speaks, he has to listen. Of course, you might say that that should be his parents’ role. Then I will ask, ‘what if his parents are late?’ or ‘even they are alive, what if his parents don’t lead exemplary lives?’

I think it is even best when one’s mentor is not his or her parent. If we are true to ourselves, some parents should never be examples to their kids.

A mentor is a person that your man respects, whose life your man is patterning his after and who you believe has a good influence on him. This kind of relationship is important because every responsible man should have someone he is accountable to; someone that can put him in line and someone whose instructions he can learn from without having to waste his life, making mistakes. Even you, when you see the kind of mentor he has, it gives you a very good idea where his life is headed so you know what you are getting yourself into.
