Ambazonia President arrested in Nigeria with nine others

H.E. Sisiku Ayuk Tabe, President of The Federal Republic of Ambazonia
The Interim President of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia, Sisiku Ayuk Tabe Julius, has been arrested. He was gaffed alongside eight members of the Interim Government at the Nera Hotel, Abuja Nigeria, Friday January 5 2018.

Sources close to the Abuja Central police district, where the leaders have been detained, say the Nigerian secret service carried out the arrest. A closed source says the arrest is linked to a recent detention of over 39 Ambazonia forces, training in Taraba, South of Nigeria by Nigerian security forces.
The arrested include;
  1.  Sisiku Ayuk Julius, Interim President of Federal Republic of Ambazonia,
2. Dr. Nfor Ngala Nfor, Chairman of the Southern Cameroons National Council (SCNC)
3. Dr. Fidelis Nde Che,                  4. Dr. Henry Kimeng                 5. Prof. Awasum            6. Dr. Cornelius Kwanga
7. Mr. Tassang Wilfred       8. Barrister Eyambe Elias          9. Dr. Ojong Okongho and    10. Barrister Nalowa Bih

Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and his collaborators had gathered to discuss the humanitarian concerns of Ambazonian refugees streaming in from Manyu County unto neighbouring Nigeria. It aimed at mobilising relief support for accommodation, medical, and feeding, in anticipation of the approaching rainy season. The venue of the meeting was kept at top secret.

It is unclear if the Yaounde regime influenced the arrests. However, government officials from La Republique du Cameroun (LRC), and Nigeria have recently been holding high level talks on how to quell the operation of the Interim Government in Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the interim government, the Secretary for Communication and IT, Chris Anu, says Ambazonians have been a victim of terror perpetrated by the government of LRC. He calls on the Nigeria authorities to address the issue and ensure that LRC does not come anywhere in contact with the arrested.

“Southern Cameroonians continue to be victims of extra judicial killings orchestrated by President Paul Biya and his henchmen. President Paul Biya and his henchmen must know Southern Cameroonians will continue their rights to self-determination and will hold Paul Biya into account on all the killings of Southern Cameroonians.

We call on the Nigeria government to address the issue immediately and ensure that the Cameroun government does not do any harm to them. We also call on the Nigerian government to guarantee the security of the more than 20,000 Southern Cameroonian refugees in various camps in Nigeria,” Chris Anu indicated.

Southern Cameroons continue to be under siege following heavy military deployment by colonial forces of LRC. Heavy military bombardment, maiming, killings, arrests, and expulsion, are being carried out on a daily basis in Manyu, Meme and Ndian Counties.

The military crack down on unarmed civilians have caused over 40,000 Southern Cameroonians flee from their homes and seek refuge in neighbouring Nigeria.

The international Community has made repeated calls for the government of LRC, to engage the government of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia, into a frank and inclusive dialogue. Yet, no move has been carryout in that regard.

LRC government instead sought to military crack down and forceful subjection of Southern Cameroonians to accept the status quo.

NowNews condemn in strongest term, the arrest of the Ambazonian leaders in Nigeria. We call for the immediate release of President Ayuk Tabe and his collaborators. We also call on the international community to initiate dialogue between Cameroun and Southern Cameroons.
